- The Séance website sets no tracking cookies and uses no trackers that require your consent, so you will not see any consent banner. The only possible exception is a strictly necessary security cookie from our hosting provider.

What the law says
Cookies and similar technologies (browser storage, pixels, device fingerprinting…) are governed by Article 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive (2002/58/EC), implemented in France by Article 82 of the French Data Protection Act (Law No. 78-17 of 6 January 1978). A website must obtain your consent before storing or reading information on your device, unless this is strictly necessary for the service you have asked for or its sole purpose is to carry out the communication.
The Séance website neither stores nor reads any information that requires your consent, so it has nothing to ask you.
On this website
The Séance website:
- sets no cookies, neither its own nor any third party’s, except for the possible security cookie described below;
- does not use your browser’s storage (localStorage, sessionStorage, IndexedDB);
- loads no third-party scripts: no analytics, no advertising, no social media buttons, no embedded videos;
- uses no other tracking technique, such as pixels or device fingerprinting.
Downloading Séance is not tracked either. Your browser only sends our hosting provider the technical information needed to display the pages, as explained in our privacy policy.
One possible exception: if our hosting provider, Cloudflare, Inc., needs to check that a request doesn’t come from a malicious bot, it may set a security cookie (such as cf_clearance). Strictly necessary to protect the site, it is never used for tracking and therefore needs no consent.
Checkout page
When you buy a license, you leave our website for the checkout page of our reseller, Paddle. That page may use cookies, in particular to secure payment and prevent fraud. They are covered by the reseller’s privacy policy, which informs you about them and, where required, asks for your consent.
Links to other websites
Our website links to other websites (data services, Apple documentation…). Once you are on those websites, their own cookie rules apply.
In the app
Séance uses no advertising identifiers, no trackers and no analytics. The app only stores on your Mac what it needs to work (library, settings, cached images), and never sends it to us. The data services the app queries for title information may attach their own cookies to their responses (Wikimedia does): we have no access to them, as explained in our privacy policy. Our emails contain no tracking pixels.
If this changes
If we ever needed a cookie or tracker that requires consent, we would ask for your consent first and update this page.
